VLOC prides itself on being a welcoming community for all. Our members hail from all over the DMV with a wide array of backgrounds and prior performance experience. If you want to join a vibrant group of performing artists who share your passion for all things opera and theater there is no better place to be.  Check out some of the many ways that you can get involved with VLOC today!

Auditions

What would a community opera company be without its stellar cast? As one of only a handful of community opera companies in the country with a live orchestra for each of our main-stage productions, we provide singers the unique opportunity to hone their skills on stage while performing for sold out crowds in a friendly supportive environment.

Auditions for each main stage production are held 2-3 months in advance of the show's run. We currently hold live auditions as well as accept video submissions. Visit our auditions page to stay up to date on audition information for all of our productions.

Volunteer Opportunities

Every season VLOC members collectively donate hundreds of volunteer hours to help ensure each production runs smoothly.

From set construction to sewing costumes, ushering to leading backstage tours; these volunteers are the lifeblood of the company.

Interested in learning a new skill? Or just need some volunteer hours for school? We are always looking an extra pair of hands to help pitch in!

Board Members

The board of directors plays a crucial role in the governance of the organization. Through their involvement on various standing committees (executive, finance, outreach, etc.) board members oversee the day-to-day management of VLOC and make critical decisions which impact the future of the company.

Board members serve a one year term which runs from July-June. If you are interested in serving on the board of directors and have the time necessary to devote to the company (2-3 hours per week on average) we welcome you to apply for a seat on the board for the next fiscal year.
